Connor's Photo Shoot

Connor is 4 months old and I can't believe how fast he has grown! Robby and I have absolutely loved every single second of being parents. We may be biased, it's true, but we think he is the cutest stinkin baby boy ever!! After he woke up from his nap today we went outside and Robby got these fantastic pictures of our little Con Man.

The Rice King

Yes, it is true, Connor ate his first meal consisting of rice cereal. I think we probably should have waited until after he had taken his nap, but, we didn't. Oh well. Robby and I had a better time than he did, but I think he'll love having something new to eat for a little variety.

Here is the little man checking Daddy out before the big meal started.
If you ask me, Connor knew something different was about to happen.
I think he was excited to gum the spoon.

He wasn't quite sure what to think.
"What are you lookin at, Dad?"
I was trying to keep it in his mouth, but he just wanted to follow the spoon.
This is about 2 minutes into the feeding. Connor got really tired really fast. Then he was done.
We'll wait until he just woke up and is super happy the next time we feed him! :)
Robby and I had a grand old time watching him try the spoon thing for the first time.

Is it just me, or is he just the most beautiful little boy?!

Ashley Thalman Photography presents.........The O'Brien's family pictures!

Here is a little preview of the family pictures that our dear friend. Ashley Thalman took. We went up Payson Canyon, one of our favorite places, and the colors were absolutely beautiful.

Thank you SO much Ashley for spending the evening with us and taking the time to freeze these moments in time for us!

More of our session to come soon!

Just Kidding!

So, I went out on my own for about .7 seconds and, while business picked up faster than I expected, I got a job offer from Fillmore Spencer in Provo, Utah (very close to home) that I couldn't refuse. Robby and I are thrilled with the new development.

Fillmore Spencer is a full service law firm which handles pretty much any legal issue you may have. I worked at the firm before law school so it is great to be in a familiar setting with several attorneys to associate with.

As far as Connor goes.....he s HUGE. Okay, that may be a stretch, but he is growing SO fast! It has been an adjustment going back to work. I definitely miss Connor during the day; however, it makes it easier knowing that he is in the most capable hands possible. I love my husband.

I will have Robby post pictures of Connor as soon as he can put them on the computer. We have some serious picture posts to catch up on!

Back By Popular Demand

Yes, it is true, we have been major slackers when it comes to posting pictures of our little guy. After being chastised by Jane, and begged by Leah, I had Robby get some more pictures ready to be posted. By the way, Happy Birthday, Pee!! Since we live forever away, my posting the pictures is your long distance birthday present. :)

Connor is getting so big! He has been smiling like crazy today and Robby and I are falling all over ourselves we just love him so much. The following are pictures ranging from 3 weeks to about 6 weeks. Connor is just two days shy of 7 weeks and we'll have more pictures posted soon. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. Robby was just saying today that it feels like Connor is so meant to be with us that it is like we have always had him. Parenthood is absolutely the best.

At Salem Pond when Connor was about three weeks old:

At Canyon View Park (we were there for about three minutes until Connor had a little accident....then in the middle of his diaper change, he peed all over his clothes and pooped again immediately after being changed for the second time.....so we left!):
Robby and my sister, Ang, took this picture of Connor that I LOVE about a week and a half ago! It very well may be his birth announcement picture, but Ashley Thalman, a local photographer and my dear friend (see her website button on the right) is taking our family pictures and some pictures of Connor soon so I am going to wait until those are done before I decide for sure.

Finally, here is a picture of Connor from about a week ago that shows his big blue eyes. He just makes my heart melt!!

First real bath!!

We have been asked by tons of people to post more pics of our little man. Here are a few more, and we will post more tomorrow. He loves taking baths. He just stares off, and looks so content. It's the cutest thing I think I have ever seen.

Con Man

Connor is growing so fast! He needed to gain 7 oz to be back at his birth weight by his two week checkup....Connor, however, gained 14 oz and grew a quarter of an inch. His official stats, as of Tuesday (13 days old) were: 8 lbs 20 3/4 inches. An ounce a day in weight gain is not too shabby (he weighed 7 lbs 2 oz when we left the hospital). Anyway, we've promised more pictures to friends and family, so, here they are:

We couldn't be more in love with him!

Connor's First Days

Connor is 5 1/2 days old now and he is changing so fast! Robby and I can’t get enough of just staring at him and watching his facial expressions. Here are some pictures that we’ve taken over the last few days:

Connor's first bath in the hospital:

Connor and me in the hospital:
I got so emotional when I saw this picture. I am so thankful my dad is healthy and here to hold and love Connor. Going home from the hospital (we put the mittens on him so he won't scratch his cute little face):When he is lying down and not swaddled, Connor likes to put his arms straight over his head like Superman....so cute!
I absolutely love this little face that he will pull. Oh, and notice the appearance of his lower lip! Yes, he does have one (he just likes to suck it in 90% of the time).
Our handsome boy:
Becoming parents has been the most amazing experience and we are soaking up every second.

Connor Smith O'Brien

At 6:34 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 we welcomed out little angel, Connor Smith O'Brien into the world! I can't believe we are parents. I didn't think it was possible for me to love Robby any more than I already did, but as he sits across from me holding our precious son I feel like I love him twice as much!

We were called into the hospital at 8:30 this morning and arrived at 9:00. Dr. Ludlow broke my water, I was started on Pitocin and started contracting right away. I waited and felt the conractions (which were really intense) for about an hour and twenty minutes then got my epidural. I went from a 2 to a 4+ fairly quickly and the was stuck there for what seemed like forever. They ended up turning off the Pitocin eventually and I continued to labor on my own. I jumped fron a 4 to a 6 1/2 pretty fast and stayed there for awhile. Then, all of a sudden, I was a 9 1/2!!! I intentionally didn't push the button for more pain meds very much (I only pushed it twice) so that I could feel the labor well enough to have control when I pushed. I felt quite a bit of pain towards the end, but it worked out perfectly and Robby was AMAZING talking me through the contractions. I am so blessed. After pushing for forty minutes, our little miracel was here!!!

Connor weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. He is the most precious little boy and is already changing!! We couldn't love him more. Here are some pictures from our day....from arrival at the hospital leading up to our baby boy!

Pregnant Steph Pics - 34 Weeks

Steph had me take her pregnant pics before, in her words, "I feel too much like a cow!" I think she is delusional, and I tell her that every day....

Nothing Can Compare

One year ago....we were packing our bags to leave to Rome. While there, we discovered the BEST restaurant on the planet. Seriously. We ate there 4 nights of the 10 we were there. We couldn't get enough of their pizzas and their desserts were enough to make you feel like you could die right then and be happy.

I have not had many cravings (other than ice) while I've been pregnant, but I am DYING for pizza, chocolate cake and berries with cream from Al Forno della Soffitta right NOW.

Here is the Roman cook who was there every time we were cooking the pizzas to perfection.

The quaint exterior of mine and Robby's favorite restaurant in the world.
So, what is the BEST food YOU have ever had?

The Joys of Pregnancy

Sure, pregnancy definitely has some low points (the first few months when you're constantly nauseated, the fear of how you you will look after your bundle arrives, and a whole slew of other things that we'll just not mention) but I think that most will agree that the excitement and happiness that accompanies pregnancy is something to soak up and revel in. This period of time is fleeting and it will be over sooner than I realize.

I can't get enough of feeling Connor move. His little flips, kicks and nudges have been occurring regularly now for a few months, but I feel a rush of excitement every time he feels the need to make his presence known. Thankfully, Robby still gets excited too and doesn't get tired of me telling him to come feel Connor every other second!

I've been promising pictures of my belly to several people for quite some time now (it's definitely tripled in size over the last month). We actually took a picture to post a couple of weeks ago but Robby lost his computer chord and said picture is currently on his power-lacking computer. So... I will commit to having Robby take another picture and post it this weekend.

Can you believe I am just days away from being 7 months? Insane.

I finally found an O.B.'s office (Warner and Ludlow) and I feel like I will be happy with them.

We are SO happy to be back home with family and friends. We feel much less anxiety about our upcoming adventures knowing that we will be surrounded by people who love and support us.

Calling All Utah County Moms

We just moved from Vegas and I am in need of an O.B. in the area to make sure everything runs smoothly with Connor. Any information you all could give me would be much appreciated. Do you have a doctor you love? Did you have a doctor you hated that I should stay clear of? Do tell. Fyi: I'd prefer to deliver at the Provo hospital.

Thanks in advance for any advise or words of wisdom you all give!

Connor's First Footprint

I went in for my 5 month ultrasound today and this was my favorite picture:
Everything is looking great and Connor is measuring right on track for April 24th. Apparently, at the rate he is going, he will be about 7 1/2 pounds (we'll see if the ultrasound tech was right). I absolutely love feeling our little man kick inside of me....and now I know exactly what the culprit's little weapon looks like. Is it insane that Robby and I already love him like crazy?! I hated getting the ultrasound without Robby. This is the first appointment he has missed, but he had a final and today was the only slot they could get us into before we moved. We'll just make sure this was the first and last photo shoot without him!

Thanksgiving weekend photos

We had Thanksgiving at Ashlee and Jonathon's new house. How many people do you know that can shoot clay pigeons in their back yard?

I tried to take some family pictures, but trying to get this many people to all look decent in a picture was a lot harder than I thought. Especially with all the kids.

I took this one while we were on our way home. Steph drove so that I could study. This photo pretty much sums up how we were feeling about going back to Vegas. All we could think about is going back to Utah for good (as far as we know) in less than 2 weeks.

High School

I am working late (it is 6:20) and I need to take break before I start drafting an Evidentiary Hearing Brief in Support of (you get the idea). Anyway, I saw this while blog stalking people (you know you do it too) and thought it would be a fun/fast little break before I hit work hard again.

1. DID YOU DATE SOMEONE FROM YOUR SCHOOL? Didn't everyone at Spanish Fork High School?! I swear, people in Spanish Fork have boyfriends/girlfriends from the age of 5 on in our small little town!! (I know my husband has some serious dating stories from like 5th grade on!! I don't even want to think of what our kids are in for.) Anyway, yes, I had a high school boyfriend and married the most amazing guy ever, who did go to Spanish Fork. (Funny how I swore I wouldn't marry someone from Spanish Fork and now we plan to raise our family there!!)
2.WHAT KIND OF CAR DID YOU DRIVE? Car? In high school? Um, does it count that Whitney pretty much drove me everywhere? The poor girl was stuck honking outside of my house every morning (although Katie usually made Whit late and gave me a few extra minutes). I didn't get a car until right before graduation....my 1989 Honda Accord. She was a beauty. :)
3. DID YOU PASS YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE TEST YOUR FIRST TRY? Sure did.
4. WERE YOU A PARTY ANIMAL? I didn't party....but we had a lot of friends over to Whitney's house pretty much every weekend. They were parties absent beer, etc. We had so much fun.
5. WERE YOU CONSIDERED A FLIRT? I don't know....you tell me. I would say yes and no.
6. WERE YOU IN BAND, ORCHESTRA, OR CHOIR? I was in Sophomore Choir.
7. WERE YOU A NERD? I got good grades, but I don't think I was a nerd. (I sure became one though!!!)
8. WERE YOU ON ANY VARSITY TEAMS? Yes, I played on the varsity soccer team all through high school. I was also on the varsity track team.
9. DID YOU EVER GET SUSPENDED/EXPELLED? I almost got sent to truancy school for having t0o many detention hours, but I got out of it.
10. CAN YOU STILL SING THE FIGHT SONG? No.
11. WHO WERE YOUR FAVORITE TEACHERS? Mrs. Dart....hands down. I loved her.
12. WHERE DID YOU SIT FOR LUNCH? Cafe Rio, Brick Oven, mine or Whitney's couch watching 90210 and eating nachos. (I don't think I ate on school grounds once in all of high school.)
13. WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL'S FULL NAME? Spanish Fork High School
14. WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL'S MASCOT AND COLORS? The Dons & Red/Grey
15. DID YOU GO TO HOMECOMING AND WITH WHO? Sophomore year with Kurt Argyle and Junior/Senior with Scott Higginson.
16. IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND DO IT AGAIN WOULD YOU? No. I LOVED my high school years, but life just gets better from then on out.
17. WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER MOST ABOUT GRADUATION? Wanting it to be over so we could go have fun!!!
18. WHERE DID YOU GO SENIOR SKIP DAY? You mean Senior Skip Year?! Wherever we felt like....we watched A LOT of 90210 during school hours.
19. WERE YOU IN ANY CLUBS? I don't think so.
20. HAVE YOU GAINED SOME WEIGHT SINCE THEN? I weigh 7 pounds more than was on my driver's license at age 16....but I am 4 1/2 months pregnant....so I think I get a pass. Right?! (Please tell me yes....I need all the help I can get here!!)
21. WHO WAS YOUR PROM DATE? Scott Higginson. I went to a lot of the dances with my high school boyfriend. Looking back....I wish I had more of a variety in my dance pictures!!! But we had a lot of fun...so no worries!
22. ARE YOU PLANNING ON GOING TO YOUR 10 YEAR REUNION? We'll see. I didn't go to the 5 year, so I will probably go to the 10 year.
23. DID YOU HAVE A JOB IN HIGH SCHOOL? I had a job from age 15 on. There were many weekend nights spent waiting tables at Winger's Diner. Would you like an asphalt pie for dessert?
24. WERE YOU AN HONOR STUDENT ? Yes.
25. DID YOU TAKE SEMINARY? Yes. Shockingly, I graduated seminary.
If so who was your favorite teacher? Um...should I remember names?
26. What would you consider your most fun times in High school? Times with Whitney (who I can't wait to see more of now that we're moving back to Utah).
27. Were you considered shy or outgoing? Definitely outgoing. My poor teachers couldn't get me to shut up.
28. Any last memories you'd like to share? I really loved all of high school. Whitney Hendrix and I had some fantastic times together. There are some absolutely classic videos at the Hendrix home that we made in high school. I seem to recall a music video to a Christina Aguilera song in Spanish where I did some wicked turns in a fur coat and ended up on my back. Another Romeo and Juliet scene comes to mind from a video Katie and I did after I'd been scorned by my boyfriend of two minutes my Sophomore year. Katie could have won an Oscar.

I crack up that Robby and I went to high school together and literally never said the word "hi" to each other. It is probably better that way, right?! I adore that man. I couldn't ask for a better/more supportive husband.

I tag: Whitney, Abbie, Leah, Robby (and you WILL do it!!) :), and anyone else who wants to!

We're Having a Baby.....

BOY!!!! We are absolutely thrilled! We were supposed to find out on Friday, but couldn't wait any longer. We went to a 3D place and found out today that it is a beautiful little boy.

He was a little camera shy at first.
You can't see the family jewels clearly, but can you see the start of it tucked between his little legs?! Is it just me, or is that the cutest thing EVER?!
We were grinning from ear to ear the entire time! I can't wait to see our little boy in person.
Our top name pick right now is Connor, but we aren't 100%. Anyone with name suggestions....fire away!

An Update on Dad

On Sunday my dad's hair started falling out. My sister, Ang, told my nephew, Tanner, that it would be neat if he shaved his head to look like Grandpa. Tanner was all over that! He said, "I'll do that for Grandpa. Then he won't be the only one in the family who is bald!"

After church Ang shaved Tanner's head and went over to show Grandpa his surprise! My Dad was totally touched, he teared up and thanked Tanner. My Mom started crying and told Tanner how special it was that he would do that for Grandpa. I've no doubt that Tanner was beaming with pride.

Dad decided to just shave his head rather than having his hair continue to fall out and make a mess. He looks so blasted cute bald!! My dad really is such a pillar of strength to our family and has helped us through dealing with this, at times, scary ordeal. Our family has been so blessed and watched over. I couldn't have asked for better parents. My mom is truly one of my best friends and my parents are two of my very favorite people to talk to.

After only one chemotherapy treatment, my Dad looks better than he has in months. He has more energy and a better appetite. His Dr. told him he has better than an 80% chance of long term remission (5-8 years). He has had one treatment and has five more left. I must admit, I get a little apprehensive at times and would like him to wear a face mask and be wrapped in bubble wrap every time he leaves the house, but, since I don't think he'll go for that, we rely on the prayers of our family, friends and loved ones. Thank you so much for all of your support.

We love you Mom and Dad! You are always in our thoughts and prayers.
